Sri Mariamman Temple



Sri Mariamman Temple (1843) on South Bridge Road is the oldest Hindu temple in Singapore. The establishment of this temple was attributed to the efforts of Naraina Pillay, a well-known Tamil pioneer who came to Singapore with Raffles in 1819.

Mariamman is a mother goddess who is especially worshipped for protection against diseases.
